Millions of people flock to Loch Ness in Scotland every year, hoping for a quick peek at the infamous cryptid, the Loch Ness Monster.
While many are left disappointed, there is one recent individual that may have been rather lucky!
After out for a dog walk, a nurse claims she saw the Loch Ness Monster as she was driving home. Fiona Wade claims that on August 31 of this year, on the loch near Inverness, Scotland, she saw a 12-foot-tall creature.
The 60-year-old was returning home after taking her dog for a walk when she spotted three humps in the water. The creature appeared briefly, according to Fiona from Cannich in north-eastern Scotland, for about 40 seconds before disappearing back into the deep loch.
"I couldn't get my head around it when I saw it. It was something I couldn't explain, couldn't rationalise," Fiona said. "When I travelled to work in the 80s and 90s I would pass Loch Ness at least once a week. It was my patch so I'm very familiar with that area. Plus I'm an outdoors person. I go camping, I do hill walking - I know what should be around lochs.
"I'm very rational and scientific as that's part of my job. It wasn't a submarine. I'm not a monster hunter. I just don't see what else it could have been."
The creature from Scottish legend has been seen seven times this year, according to reports. Fiona was unable to capture the thing on camera while she was driving, but others have in the past.
She further explained: "I was just driving past like I normally would. I saw something in the loch and initially thought 'Oh that's a big stag'. Then I thought it may have been a boar but it had a long neck. But I glanced again and I saw what I can only describe as a second hump.
"Then I saw a short head. It was a really weird feeling. I couldn't stop on the road. I knew it wasn't going to be there for long. I didn't have time to get out and take a photo.
"I just stared at it. I have good vision. I only use glasses for reading and even then it's a +2 prescription. It was there for around 40 seconds before disappearing. I know it sounds irrational and ridiculous. But I saw something that was no animal, no sea creature."
Immediately, Fiona called her sister one her drive back home.
She told her sister, "I said to her 'I know this sounds nuts but I think I've just seen the Loch Ness Monster.'
Perhaps Fiona was mistaken, as many have been in the past. On the other hand, maybe Fiona caught a glipse of the elusive beast.
